As we grow older we face a number of skin problems like wrinkles, discoloration or loss of firmness. When you are younger, specially in your teens, you don’t have any such problems with the complexion, unless something popped up. Teenage skin does not require as much work as in adulthood, but on the other hand, there are many teenagers who struggle with the problem of acne and other skin problems. Adolescents experience skin changes differently and rapidly and these changes are visible and can be very frustrating. In this article, we will go through some helpful teenage skin care tips.

Where to start?

Here are some tips to begin with –

Awareness

A lot depends on us and on explaining to the child how to care for the skin. It will be helpful to be aware of the skin type, whether it is oily skin or dry skin and use products according  It may also be that skincare or cosmetics alone will not help and you will have to go to a dermatologist or cosmetician for tests. The field of activity is a bit limited due to age, but nothing is impossible and if we start early, the better!

Good Habits

Follow the basics of skincare, i.e. cleansing, moisturizing and protection.

Wash the skin twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. For wiping the face, use disposable or reusable towels, which are washed after 1 use and it is important that they are only for the face.

Do not rub the face with a hand towel used by other household members. If there is any “surprise” on the skin, do not squeeze it.

You can coat the lesion with zinc ointment or apply a drop of tea tree oil.

Remove makeup before going to bed

Teenagers are already starting to experiment with lipstick, blush or mascara. Let’s try to convince them that by going to sleep with makeup, we may wake up with eczema or irritation the next day. Teach them the importance of keeping the skin clean before going to bed!

Masks and peels

Young skin also needs exfoliation and deeper cleansing. It is worth reaching for enzyme peelings and doing them once a week, and then finishing with a mask, e.g. a deep nourishing sheet. What about boys? Well, though a mask is not necessary, the use of exfoliating lotions is a great solution. Once every two weeks, using a cotton pad, wiping the skin with a lotion based on 5% glycolic acid, or a tonic with vitamin C is a quick and simple activity that will not cause too much trouble for boys.

Use of Sunscreen

In summer, children spend more time in the sun, if you get sunburn at a young age, it can result in discoloration and even skin cancer in the future. Let us teach young people to apply a sunscreen to all exposed places before leaving the house. Of course, on the beach it is a must. And in autumn or winter, they may choose not to use a day cream and replace it with a light filter, or you can invest in protective creams already with a sunscreen.

Useful Health Tips – How to boost your Immunity

What skincare should a teenager who has no major problems follow?

>> As mentioned earlier, cleansing is essential. Every morning and evening, use face cleansing gel or foam based face wash. It doesn’t have to be an expensive product and it can also have a more natural composition.

>> After washing your face, it is worth spraying it with a toner or even thermal water. It is best if the packaging is in the form of a spray, then the whole procedure will be even more pleasant.

>> Use a moisturiser after cleansing to keep the skin well hydrated.

>> Use a sunscreen when you step out

>> In the evening. if the skin is more normal or dry, hydrating moisturiser is enough. If, on the other hand, it is more mixed or greasy then it is better to use a normalizing cream.

>> An enzyme peeling will be great once a week, along with a moisturizing or normalizing sheet mask or a cream mask.

What not to do?

>> Do not use fine or coarse peels or solidified clay masks on young skin.

>> Also, do not reach for cosmetics that contain alcohol or strong detergents, because it can lead to irritation or exacerbate inflammation on the skin.

What to do when the skin shows inflammation, severe acne, irritation?

If your teen or teenager has serious skin problems, acne, inflammation and redness are visible, first you should visit a dermatologist. Carrying out a skin test and an appropriate interview is the key to success. You may find that this skin condition is linked to hormones and growing up. It may be that there are bacteria on the skin that are causing the skin condition. It may also be that the problem lies in food allergies or intolerances.

You must first eliminate the cause of this skin condition, then take appropriate steps or start treatment, and complete the treatment with home care.

Remember also that if your child has a skin problem, you have a big responsibility. If you do nothing in the future, acne scars, post-inflammatory discoloration, etc. may appear on the skin. Not only will your child feel uncomfortable among the peers, but will have to face more invasive treatments in the future.

So try to make them aware and convince them that everything is possible, and the sooner you develop good habits, the sooner you will achieve great results!
